So many gift ideas

Usually I'm stuck when family and friends ask for gift ideas for my birthday or Christmas but kitting out a campervan presents so many opportunities. We threw a birthday bash last night (because we're flying to Kefalonia at 8am on my actual birthday tomorrow) and our kit has grown considerably.

We have a very substantial camping light with 25 LEDs that's almost blinding it's so bright, and it charges by winding it up or through the van's cigarette lighter socket. I was also given a camping kettle, camping shower, giant road map of Europe, oven gloves, and plastic wine glasses.

My favourite gift is a campervan wash bag. It's shaped and styled on a vintage campervan and it's absolutely awesome.

Valencia

When I came to add our latest trip, I noted that the last blog entry was October 2022. Oops. We've been much better at keeping our YouTube channel  up to date. There you'll find at least half a dozen videos from the summer of 2023 when we went 'Huttopia Hopping' - that is to say we stayed on six different Huttopia campsites over our six-week road trip, from the Atlantic coast, across the Pyrenees and over to the Mediterranean. Biarritz

  October holidays are often about embracing autumn, wrapping up warm and enjoying walks in the countryside coloured flame red, orange and yellow. That was almost the holiday we thought we were going to be having this week after French fuel strikes and the inevitable shortages steered us towards a plan to visit northern Germany. The weather forecast had us rethink and decide to try our luck at getting fuel enough to make it to the southwest of France. This new plan was only hatched after we'd left home, about half of the way to Eurotunnel. We do love the sandy coast of France's Atlantic coast and have stayed everywhere from the Vendée down to Landes. So when the best of the weather was to be around Biarritz, a part of the coast we'd not yet explored, it seemed the ideal choice.   We used to take Eurotunnel crossings for granted, hopping across the channel ten times a year. It's now Easter and it's the first time we'll have been to France since last summer. Just like last July, I didn't really believe we were going until we were through border control. They only asked for our passports this time - we'd uploaded our NHS Covid passes to our Advance Passenger Information on our tunnel booking - so it seemed just like simpler times before a worldwide pandemic brought everything to a standstill. We are having to fit our France trip around a family holiday to Wales which left us five nights at the end of the Easter holiday fortnight. Therefore we decided not to venture too far.  Just 2 hours 45 minutes from Calais is our campsite home for the next five nights.
